The Trauma-Informed MDT

This presentation emphasizes the importance of the MDT working together from the outcry statement to the conclusion of the case.  Considerations of the effects of trauma on child victims, their parents and the family, as well as MDT members will be discussed.  Understanding the impact of trauma on MDT members and conflict resolution are critical in the MDT approach.  Participants will learn how to recognize and address these concerns when handling child abuse cases and in their interactions with constituent

  • Learn about the CAC Movement and the purpose of the MDT approach to child abuse.
  • Share roles and responsibilities of MDT agencies.
  • Learn about the dynamics of abuse and process of disclosure.
  • Discuss trauma, its impact on children and families, and the professionals who serve them.
  • Discuss the importance of working with the non-offending caregiver and providing advocacy throughout the investigative process and beyond.

Continuing Law Enforcement Education (CLEE) approval has been received through the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy. 

Victim Service Provider (VSP) credit is pending through the South Carolina Office of Victim Services Education and Certification.
