This four-hour training is focused on the response to juveniles who exhibit Problematic Sexual Behaviors (PSB) and how advocates can involve a multidisciplinary systemic approach to meet the needs of the whole family. This training will encompass the spectrum of research involving juveniles involved with PSB and why Children’s Advocacy Centers are important for an effective strategy to identifying juveniles and treating them.

Goals

  • To provide a high- quality training, consistent with professional standards for CAC Victim Advocates on information and skills essential to the delivery of victim advocacy services to children and families served by CACs
  • To build professional competence and confidence in advocating for children and caregivers, as part of the MDT response and in coordination with allied professionals and systems
  • To ensure CAC Victim Advocates have a basic understanding of the body of research which encompasses Juveniles with PSB
  • Ensure CAC Victim Advocates understand their role in the approach to aiding families when PSB are identified
  • To offer CAC Victim Advocates skills to assist caregivers and the MDT a systemic approach to support families with children exhibiting PSB



Victim Service Provider (VSP) credit is pending through the South Carolina Office of Victim Services Education and Certification.

Meeting attendees must park in the parking lot at the Whaley House which is located at 1527 Gervais Street. The parking lot is behind the Whaley House and accessible from Pickens street.  You will need a parking pass which will be provided in your confirmation email.
