SCNCAC’s Initial Victim Service Provider training is a twenty-four-hour long training that includes the requirements for South Carolina's CVST and National Children’s Alliance Victim Advocacy training requirements. Registration available 2-18-2020.

Training topics include: review and practice of communication stills, trauma-informed care, cultural competency, crisis intervention or de-escalation, develop strategies to overcome barriers through motivational interviewing, ethics, identify roles of different VSPs/Advocates, identify resources and referrals, discuss strengths, limitations, and possible overlap or conflicting roles of different VSPs, Partner and collaborate with other agencies to meet the needs of victims with special needs/considerations, SC Victims Rights and Statues, crime victim compensation, criminal justice system and court procedures, introduction to vicarious trauma for victim services, our historical foundation, the medical exam, and Collaboration Data System.

Completion Requirements:
The training consists of seven hours of online modules and two and half day in person training. The online modules will be available by Tuesday February 25 and must be completed by the first day of classroom time which is Monday March 9. An email will be sent to the email you register with on or before February 25 once the online modules are available. By registering for this course, you agree to complete the online modules prior to Monday March 9. 

Victim Service Provider (VSP) credit is pending through the South Carolina Office of Victim Services Education and Certification.  If you are not VSP certified, apply for VSP certification through the Department of Crime Victim Services Training, Provider Certification, and Statistical Analysis (CVST).
