SCNCAC member Children's Advocacy Centers will virtually head to D.C. in early September for our annual Hill Day event. Throughout the day of September 9, SCNCAC Hill Day attendees will take their message to Capitol Hill to advocate for Children's Advocacy Centers (CACs) and the CAC response to child abuse in South Carolina. Hill Day is an incredible opportunity for CAC representatives to advocate and provide a voice for children in South Carolina.

Virtual DC Hill Day Schedule
SCNCAC has arranged meetings with Senators and all available CAC representatives should plan on attending the Senator meetings as long as they do not conflict with your meetings with your House Representatives. We ask that CAC representatives make virtual appointments with their individual Representatives in the House.

September 8th

  • 2:00pm - SCNCAC will have a virtual meeting for all Hill Day attendees to go over talking points and areas of concern to share with legislators. The status of the VOCA fund and VOCA cuts along with COVID-19 impact on CAC operations will be topics of primary concern. We will be asking legislators to work toward stabilizing the VOCA fund to avoid future cuts which are having a negative impact on our ability to respond to child abuse in South Carolina. We will also discuss and let our representatives in DC know the status of our efforts in South Carolina to secure CARES Act funding for CACs. NCA’s Director of Government Affairs, Denise Edwards, will join us for this meeting.
