Project BEST is a state-wide collaborative effort to use innovative community-based dissemination, training, and implementation methods to dramatically increase the capacity of every community in South Carolina to deliver evidence-supported mental health treatments (ESTs) to every abused and traumatized child who needs them.
As part of a 3 year grant project, Project BEST is working with SCNCAC to identify Children's Advocacy Centers in the Upstate and Pee Dee regions to participate in the grant project which is currently focusing on Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). TF-CBT is a conjoint child and parent psychotherapy approach for children and adolescents who are experiencing significant emotional and behavioral difficulties related to traumatic life events. It is a components-based treatment model that incorporates trauma-sensitive interventions with cognitive behavioral, family, and humanistic principles and techniques. Children and parents learn new skills to help process thoughts and feelings related to traumatic life events; manage and resolve distressing thoughts, feelings, and behaviors related to traumatic life events; and enhance safety, growth, parenting skills, and family communication.
Leadership at Children's Advocacy Centers in the Upstate and Pee Dee regions are invited to this information session. We will provide information and answer questions about the grant project and seek to gain information about your CACs readiness and/or interest in participating in this project. We are asking that decision makers and staff familiar with each CACs therapy programs register for this session.
