After over a year of development, Durant Children's Center has officially opened it's Satellite Center in Sumter, SC. The new two-story building with over 4,000 square footage will be used to provide 24 hour crisis intervention, medical exams, diagnosis and treatment.

In addition, forensic interviews, individual and group counseling, legal assistance, and community education and training will also be provided.

Durant Children's Center has also been awarded the NCA 2020 CAC Services for Military Installations grant. This grant will increase their capacity to enhance services to military-affiliated children and their families as well as providing training and resources to military leadership. Sumter, SC is the home of Shaw, AFB; that houses both US Air Force and US Army Central Commands as well as joint service members. This increase in services will work to better tailor their support and advocacy to military-affiliated families. Durant Children's Center's Project Coordinator will work with military leadership to increase partnerships and establish protocols expanding the coordination of investigative and coordinated response to military families impacted by child abuse.

On January 6th, SCNCAC presented a Building Resiliency training in Hartsville for 25 MDT members and staff from the Durant Children's Center. The training taught them how to build resiliency in the workplace and the impact this work can have on the individual.

In addition, the trainees learned the core elements of resiliency and how to incorporate them into their work and lives. The MDT members and Durant CAC staff came together to explore and learn new techniques to better support themselves and their work.
